Turn those pages!

That's right. It's time for your local library's summer reading program. And not to brag, but my local library has started a program for adults and we can win prizes just like the kids! Well, not just like the kids, but almost. Everytime I read a book, I write down a little information about it and then I can turn it in for a chance to win a gift basket--yippee! I'm going to be reading a little extra just because I like prizes. Do you like prizes? I could be talked into hosting a cyber-book discussion and awarding blog buttons for all participants. What do you think? What would YOU like to read?

I think I deserve a prize for whenever I get done with Rough Stone Rolling (the JS biography). I'm halfway.

Oh man, you library rocks.
I'd like to read something so scary it would keep me awake for a couple of nights. Or somehting so good I read it in two days (like Harry Potter).
Seriously.

Kimberly, Aren't prizes great? I can see you winning the "Really really nice seems-like-she-could-be-your-best-friend blogger" prize.

Elizabeth, I agree!

NCS, Scary things scare me. (That was profound!) I haven't read anything scary since I was in middle school. Hmmm. They're for young readers, but I would recommend Wait Till Helen Comes, by Mary Downing Hawn or The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Ren Wright. Try them. Spooky.

I want to read something easy that doesn't require a lot of concentration and a copy of Cliff Notes to get through.

I read a lot of blogs. I think I should get a special category button for that, don't you think?

Well you know I recently OD'd on not one but two volumes of Harry Potter read simultaneously in one weekend. But now I'm craving something new. I want to read Golden Compass. I have no idea how it is I just saw the previews for the movie and decided I want to read the book.

I'm also anxiously awaiting the next HP book and the return of Jasper Fforde's wry and witty Tuesday Next--both coming up next month. I can't wait!

If you haven't read it yet I highly recommend "The Ladies Auxiliary" by Tova Mirvis. I like to quote that book when people start beating up a bit too much on the Utah culture thing.

And if you like not-too-out-there fantasy my favorite since forever (I think I've read the series three or four times) is The Riddle Master of Hed books by Patricia McKillip.

My oldest dd and I signed up for our library's adult program yesterday while little dd was in the children's room signing up. I'm a book worm. So, what should we read this summer. I just got the series of Sweet Magnolia books from Sherry Woods. I thought light reading would do the trick.

Welcome Jean Knee!

Rebecca, I'll keep you posted

Shari, sounds like a good read. Kite Runner was compelling,

EWL, I agree. So, how many blogs DO you read?

Eve, I thought I would choose a title, give people a month to read and then post a few questions on my blog. I think it could be fun.

CW, I want to read a Jasper Fforde next. My book club read The Eyre Affair, but I had to miss that month and didn't read it. Thanks for the other recommnedations.

Hi Kate! Haven't read that series--maybe I'll check it out!

Okay, Brooke. I'll let you know.

Thanks Scribbit. I'll try to decide on a title by the end of next week.

Azucar, yes! I loved it. I wrote a very short review of it on my blog. I would read more by her.

Grateful, so fun to hear from you! Hope you are having a great time.

Matter of fact, I've had a book club blog going for about two years now, and it's kind of...slowly dying. If you want (and this is just an idea, feel free to shoot it down) would you want to get yerself an account on the near-dead blog--admin account so you could fiddle with it however you wanted--um. Maybe that's unwelcome. I don't know. But here's a link, if you want to see.
