Dear Jennifer B.,

I'm taking a few days off. My life needs me. (What? You didn't know I had one?)

In the meantime, do you have a question for me? What would you like to know? Post your question in my comments section and I will do my best to answer.
See you soon.

Love,
Jennifer B.

What is the longest you have ever gone without washing your hair?

hi jennifer: what made you totally fall for your husband/boyfriend/paramour? what was the moment that made that happen for you? when did you know?

happy night girl :)

Jennifer B. said...

Oooh. I'm sure in the post-partum haze I've easily gone 4 days. Maybe longer. You would think maybe I'd gone longer when camping, but I'm not much of a camper.

How about you, Annie? Is it tough to maintain that gorgeous head of hair?

Grateful, this isn't very romantic but one moment that stands out is when I was at my worst. In college I was terrible at time management and chronically late. One evening I was getting ready to attend a performance and was behind. My roommate was giving us a ride and she was ready to go--I wasn't. I finally rushed to the car with wet hair (oh the humiliation!) and my roomie was seething. I was so embarrassed and upset but my date (who later became my husband) was remarakably calm and not bothered at all. Instead, he tried to make me feel better. Of course, it helped that he was handsome and made the best chocolate chip cookies EVER! (By the way, I am almost always early now.)

hi jennifer: that is awesome sweet how in a low moment for you how he tried to make you feel better.

the night (within moments no kidding) when i met my husband (at dominoes pizza), i was almost immediately smitten, a goner, hook line and sinker (my heart felt like it was beating loud outside my skin). i was not "looking" for a guy, this guy just fell into my lap so to speak.

we started seeing each other immediately and as much as possible when we weren't at our jobs and when i wasn't in my college classes. i did not have any time left for this guy, but i had to make time for him because i was so smitten. he was, too. it was a wonderful and romantic period of life.

but what i think really sent me over the top was this sweet sweet gesture he did for me one evening. i got so run down and sick with a cold soon after we started dating (probably because i was trying to do to much and not sleeping enough). he knew i had a yicky cold, so he ran home on a break from work, heated up some chicken noodle soup, put it in a thermos for me, and brought the thermos and a big metal spoon over to my dorm door and gave it to me.

i was so touched, nobody had ever done that before for just me. i felt like he really cared for me and wanted to help take care of me. i was so touched.

we engaged one month after we met and married two months later (i know, that's crazy, you should take more time, but it is 17 years later and we are still together). of course it hasn't always been awesome, some highs and lows, but i know that everytime i reach out for his hand, he ALWAYS reaches his hand out to mine, too. he is always consistent with me and i have always been able to count on him being in my corner. no doubt. he has always been my big teddy bear.

wow, this was nice to remember this tonight. thank you for the glimpse into your moment and my moment tonight. i enjoyed sharing this with you.

so, we did a "comment" meme tonight girl :)

give the big guy a hug :)

chow cyber sista. smile :)

Can I rip, I mean borrow this idea? I have absolutely nothing to blog about! It's a first, I know!

How many hours sleep do you get a night?

Jennifer B. said...

Toni, I usually get about 6-8 hours of sleep. It's most often closer to 6 because I don't go to bed early enough. At least my kids sleep through the night now. Interrupted sleep is the worst!

I'm so new to visiting here that I know so little about you. A quick summary please?

Jennifer B. said...

Sure Kimberly. You asked for it.

Born and raised on the west coast. I left for BYU in 1988 and studied English Teaching. Met my best friend (whom I married) and taught at American Fork High School part time for one year (Go Cavemen! Not the most academically progressive mascot, but whatever). Had my first of seven children (2 girls, 5 boys) who now range from 12 to 2.

LOVES: conversation, books, good food (including chocolate), and comments on my blog.

CHALLENGES: keeping order in my house and getting to bed at a decent hour

HOPES: to help my children devleop strong testimonies, learn to keep a tidy and well-run home, take care of my health and my husband.

Anything else?

Special K ~Toni said...

Will there be an eighth child?

Jennifer B. said...

Toni, good question. I have no announcement to make at present.

hi jennifer: the summary was cool. kimberly cracked me up how she came right out and asked that.

are you still on the west coast? what state did you end up settling in with your best friend and your seven kids?

tootles :)

Jennifer B. said...

Yup. I'm in so. Cal.

Are you thinking that this time next year you'll plan a trip to Women's Conference??
We're about the same age. I started at byu in 87. Where all did you live during your years there?
What are some of your pet peeves? (One of mine is a word verification that is so squished together I don't even try. Just type aapsodifhapdsfiapf and then let it reset for me ) :)

hi jennifer: i'm about the same age as you and elizabeth, too. i am 38 presently (turning 39 this aug 16th).

hey jennifer, i had so much fun with your question and answer thing last night that i spun it into my post today. this was so fun to recall this with you. i also mentioned you by name/blog in my today post. do you feel special? he he

Good question???? There is the possibility of another one or two or three? I would go bonkers!

Amanda said...

7 kids, wow that is awesome. I would totally have more if I felt I could handle it. But I can't so we are done at 4.

Question, can I ask more than one? Oh, wait, that was a question. What was the last movie that you watched?
When you have spare time, which I doubt you have much of, what do you like to do?

Jennifer B. said...

Amanda, the last movie I watched was "Stranger than Fiction" with Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson. (Netflix sent it to us.)

In my spare time I like to read, bake and eat cookies, and go on dates with my husband.

I have a few questions. Have you ever sung a solo or been voted Best Actress in a stake roadshow? Have you won a pen quill contest? Were you a cheerleader? Were you on scholarship at BYU?

Anonymous said...

How is it, living in So Cal with 7 children? Do you get a lot of stares? And if so, how do you handle them?

(This coming from the mom of 5 in Portland area)

Jennifer B. said...

Elizabeth, I would love to attend Women's Conference, but I'm not sure when I'll make it up there. I lived in D.T. my freshman year and then in a pink house just south of the Health Center on the corner of 5th E. and 800 North (580 E. 800 N. I think).

Pet Peeves: littering and especially when people throw cigarette butts on the ground, cars that change lanes or turn without signaling, and not having chocolate in the house!

Michelle, I plead guilty to all you mentioned. (Did someone pay you to ask those questions?)

Millie, people are usually surprised to learn that we have seven children, but most people are surprisingly kind about it. Although, I do recall an older gentleman asking, "You're babysitting, right?" and when I answered that no, they were all mine, he stared hard at me and was silent. I think he was angry! (Nevermind that they will be paying your Social Security, serving the communtiy and solving problems!) How do North Westerners handle it?

Oh, they say that it never rains in Southern Californiaaaaa.....

Is that true? Was Albert Hammond a singer and a prophetic meteorologist combined?

-What is this "life" you speak of?
-What is your favoritest song is the whole world?

hi jenniferf: what is one of your happiest moments?

what is one of the best lessons you have learned so far in this life?

chow baby :)

Jennifer B. said...

Clark, Oh yes, 7th Saga. . .I was a slave to it! Hmmm. Maybe blogging IS my new 7th Saga.

EWL, Pretty darn close. It rained twice last week, but I think that makes about 5 times total for the year--Come visit!

NCS, Who am I kidding? Life schmife. My current favorite is "Put Your Records On"

Grateful, One of my happiest moments was completely random. I was just sitting outside watching my kids play, it was a gorgeous day and it hit me hard out of nowhere that I was really happy.

A lesson I have learned: When it's time to brush your teeth, make sure the tube of cream you grab is actually toothpaste.

Anonymous said...

hi jennifer: your happy moment is really cool. you experienced an i'm really grateful for ____ moment! i heard this in a Sacrament talk. everyday, tell yourself at least 3 things/blessings you are grateful for that day. i consciously did it today. it felt good to remind myself of good stuff, like last night when my 15 y/o daughter hugged me for no reason at all. way cool.

okay, i can relate to the grab the right thing comment. the other night, i realized it was really a bad idea to have the big jug of juice RIGHT next to the big jug of pine sol (on the counter). i started to grab the pine sol and pour a drink. i caught myself, but, boy that could've been a call to poison control i suppose.

new question: what is your favorite part of the three hour block on sunday?

pleasant dreams and cheers to you :) peace

Hi! The picture you have in this post... mmm... it is mine. It's a tatto I have and you got it probably from my flickr account.

It's ok that you use it... but at least you could ask.....

Jennifer B. said...

Roberto, I DID get this from flickr! You will see there is an active link on the photo which refers to the flickr site and gives you credit. I used your photo on my blog because there was a "Blog this" option when I clicked on your photo. When that option is offered, I am not required to contact the owner directly--it is an option YOU choose when you uploaed it to Flickr. I assume that flickr keeps a record of who downloads your photos--you will find my info there. Sorry--I didn't steal it!
