Starstruck
A few months ago my husband and I were watching late night TV when we heard Miss Corinne Bailey Rae sing.
Oh
My
This woman can sing! Her voice is incredible. We caught her again on PBS and downloaded a couple of her songs from i tunes. Just for fun we checked out her concert schedule, but all her shows were in Europe.
Then.
Just by chance my husband found out that she was going to tour here in America but we hadn't seen it advertised. She was actually going to open for John Legend (who was advertised, but whom I had never even heard of before, 'cuz I'm not really hip to current music). Not only that, but the first night of the tour was going to be very near our home!
So.
By the time we found out about it, the concert was already SOLD OUT. (aww)
But we found tickets on e-bay (yea!)
and they were outrageously expensive (awww).
But then he actually won an auction for a reasonable bid (yea!)
and he also kept checking back at Ticket Master just to see if anything else opened up.
AND THEN . . . .
on the day of the concert, he found FRONT ROW SEATS for the same price and was able to sell our other tickets to someone else less than two hours before the show!!! (WAHOOOOO!)
So tonight I sat mere feet away from two amazing performers and had a great time celebrating my anniversary.
And THEN,
later, off to the left, in the open seats next to the stage, I noticed Miss Corinne watching Mr. Legend perform and I waved my hands excitedly--not really thinking she would notice me, but
she smiled right at me and WAVED BACK!
I am starstruck.

Glad you were able to attend and have a great night out!
Wow, that's awesome!
That sounds like fun. I spent last night with Mike and Michelle. Also fun, but in a different way. I downloaded one of Corinne Bailey Rae's tracks last summer when it was the free download of the week on iTunes. She's very talented.
Tyler, we don't even know you, so don't be pretending you spent the night with us. Sheesh.
Carrot(a.k.a. Michelle)- Is your hubby named Mike? And how do you know Tyler wasn't there? He's pretty sneaky.
Yes, his name is Mike. Last night my husband heard a sound down in the basement. Shew, Tyler, you almost got yerself shot.
that is SOOOO cool! live music is one of my favorite things in this world...i bet it was unforgettable. brad and i just went to josh groban on sat. night...A-MAZING!
Carrot -- so glad Tyler is still alive--Quit that sneaking around bro!
Shari -- It WAS unforgettable. Glad you had fun--I agree, live music is invigorating!
My daughters lurrrve Corinne Bailey Rae. I have XM radio and we started hearing her on the UPOP station last year before her CD was even released. XM Radio has increased my negative zero coolness factor to at least a 1.
Glad that you guys had a great time.
Jealous. And just so you know, if that were me up there, I would have waved too :)
Thanks EWL and Maralise.
I think it was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.
I saw the same PBS special and was amazed. I love that your husband had so much percerverance looking for tickets for you! How romantic!
Okay now this is proof, I was reading you blog before I knew it was you! I'm still freaking out. Also I read that post about when you were a little shaken about your son being asked for help with a dog by a man, and I was thinking about it all night, not even knowing it was you, but it really shook me up. Then I talked to Shari M. and she retold the story and then I read the whole thing on your blog and WOW what a reality check. You are just never safe. It's sad but true.
Jen I am so excited you got to see Corinne Bailey Rae! She is my favorite and I love to hear that she waved to you. She seems very genuine. Glad you had fun!
Hi Lauren! Thanks for your kind comment--hope I hear more from you!
